Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intensified operations across Nigeria, uncovering clandestine drug laboratories, arresting dealers, and seizing large quantities of opioids, cannabis strains, and synthetic substances. The agency’s crackdown has spanned Kaduna, Edo, Kwara, Ogun, Taraba, Ondo, and Lagos among other states.

A significant bust occurred at a residential building in Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos, where NDLEA officers discovered a laboratory producing Colorado (Colos), a synthetic cannabis strain. The 30-year-old lab owner, Stephen Kelechi Imoh, was arrested, and authorities recovered 16.2kg of freshly cooked Colos, 1.7kg of ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol, 4.5kg of Potassium Carbonate, and 91 litres of Dibromobutane.

In a separate Lagos operation, 28-year-old dealer Afeez Salisu (alias Malu) was apprehended in Mushin with 16 compressed blocks of Ghana Loud cannabis and 16.4kg of Colorado. Meanwhile, music artist Godspower George Osahenrumwen (stage name Steady Boy) was arrested in Lekki while attempting to take delivery of 140 bags of Loud cannabis weighing 77.2kg, part of an international shipment from New York, United States. His manager, Zion Osazee Omigie (alias Zee Money), remains at large.

Further NDLEA raids across the country led to multiple seizures, including tramadol capsules, exol-5, skunk, and methamphetamine. Notable operations include: 1,779kg of skunk intercepted in Ogun State; 596.4kg of skunk in Bauchi; 2,829kg in Ondo; 1,455kg in Edo; and 76.5 litres of skuchies in Lagos. Arrests were made in Kaduna, Taraba, Kwara, Bauchi, and other states in connection with these consignments.

Alongside enforcement operations, NDLEA has continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization programs in schools, worship centers, workplaces, and communities nationwide. Lectures were delivered at schools in Oyo, Lagos, Sokoto, Jigawa, and Kano states, among others.

Chairman and CEO of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers for their professionalism and resilience. He reiterated the agency’s commitment to dismantle drug syndicates nationwide and ensure that proceeds of crime are forfeited to the Federal Government.
