Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has condemned the recent wave of post-election protests that erupted in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Mwanza, describing them as “regrettable and unpatriotic.”
In her first national address since her October 29 election victory, President Suluhu thanked the country’s security agencies for their swift action in maintaining peace and stability amid rising tensions in parts of the country.
Speaking from Dodoma after receiving her presidential certificate, the re-elected leader commended Tanzanians for their continued faith in her administration and hailed her 98% landslide win as “a collective achievement for all Tanzanians.”
“Our unity and commitment to peace remain our greatest strength,” she said. “While differences in opinion are expected in a democracy, violence and destruction have no place in our nation.”
President Suluhu also reaffirmed her government’s dedication to inclusive governance, national development, and dialogue, urging citizens to look beyond the elections and focus on building a stronger, more prosperous Tanzania.
