The Federal High Court has scheduled November 20, 2025, for the delivery of judgment in the terrorism trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Justice Omotosho made the pronouncement on Friday after Kanu failed to present his defence in the ongoing proceedings. The court had previously allocated six days for the defendant to conduct his defence, a period that has now elapsed.
In his ruling, the judge noted that Kanu’s inability to utilise the time granted for his defence means he cannot claim a denial of his constitutionally guaranteed right to a fair hearing. The court’s decision paves the way for the conclusion of a trial that has attracted significant national and international attention.
Kanu, who has been in detention for several years, faces multiple charges relating to terrorism and separatist activities. The trial has been closely monitored, with supporters and critics alike eagerly awaiting the outcome, which is expected to have implications for both national security and political discourse in Nigeria.
