The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to property owners in Abuja who have violated land use regulations, ordering them to pay a ₦5 million fine. The minister has given offenders a final 14-day grace period to settle the penalty, stressing that failure to comply will attract further enforcement action.

The directive affects several high-profile areas across the city, including Gana Street and Usuma Street in Maitama; Yakubu Gowon Crescent in Asokoro; Aminu Kano Crescent and Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent in Wuse II.

Other locations under scrutiny include Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Gimbiya Street, and Onitsha Street in Garki II, as well as Ogbomosho Street, Lafia Close, Yola Street, Abriba Close, Danbatta Street, Ringim Close, and Ilorin Street in Garki I.

Officials said the move is part of the FCT administration’s ongoing efforts to enforce urban planning laws, promote orderly development, and ensure that residents and property owners comply with approved land use plans.

The FCT Minister’s warning is clear: property owners must act immediately within the 14-day window or face stricter sanctions in line with the law.
