President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound grief over the death of Justice Mukhtar Muhammad Dodo (rtd), who passed away on Sunday at the age of 70. The announcement was made in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
Justice Dodo, who hailed from Katsina State, had a long and distinguished career in the Nigerian judiciary. He served as Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria before being appointed as a High Court judge in the Federal Capital Territory. His career was widely recognized for its dedication to upholding justice and strengthening Nigeria’s judicial system.
In his tribute, President Tinubu described Justice Dodo as an “upright judicial officer, a patriotic Nigerian and a fearless jurist who spent his life contributing to the strengthening of Nigeria’s judicial system.” He also prayed for the repose of the late jurist’s soul and asked Allah to give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The President further extended his condolences to the government and people of Katsina State as well as to the Dodo family, acknowledging the significant impact of the late justice’s contributions to the nation’s judiciary.
