In a major step toward equipping young Nigerians for the future, the Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a strategic partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to expand access to digital education and practical skills across the country.

The agreement, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and the UAE Digital School, led by Dr. Waleed Al Ali under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), marks a new era of cooperation in youth empowerment, technology, and education.

According to Minister Olawande, the collaboration is designed to bridge Nigeria’s digital divide and prepare millions of young citizens to compete in a technology-driven global economy. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes innovation and skills development for sustainable national growth.

“This partnership is a testament to Nigeria’s readiness to embrace innovative solutions that bridge the digital divide and empower young citizens with opportunities for learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship,” Olawande said during the signing ceremony in Dubai.

The MoU is expected to deliver structured digital learning programmes, mentorship opportunities, and access to international tech ecosystems, creating a pathway for Nigerian youth to become active contributors to the digital future.

Observers say the move highlights Nigeria’s growing diplomatic and technological ties with the UAE and underscores the federal government’s resolve to tackle youth unemployment through strategic global partnerships.
