President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has carefully chosen several Nigerian governors to join Nigeria’s official team at the upcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit, taking place on November 22-23, 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Among those invited are Plateau State’s Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, and Kaduna State’s Governor, Uba Sani, along with other state leaders.

This year’s summit is very special because it’s the first time Nigeria and Africa are hosting the G20 Leaders’ Summit. The G20 is a group made up of the world’s biggest economies, including countries like the United States, China, India, the United Kingdom, and others. It also includes the European Union and the African Union. The theme for this year is “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” focusing on solving major global problems related to the economy, the environment, and social issues.

The summit will bring together world leaders, ministers, international organizations, and development banks to discuss how to make the world a better place, especially in these challenging times.

Governor Mutfwang’s inclusion in Nigeria’s delegation shows his growing influence and the important role Plateau State is playing in Nigeria’s future. During the summit, he will participate in important discussions on topics like global economic reforms, responsible mining, climate change, trade, digital technology, and food security. These areas are crucial for Nigeria’s development and for improving the lives of its people.

The discussions on economic reform will focus on making the international financial system fairer and supporting countries that are still developing. In mining, Plateau State’s rich mineral resources give it a special voice in promoting sustainable mining practices and new technology.

Climate talks will emphasize how Nigeria can develop in a way that is friendly to the environment, including climate finance and energy transition. The summit will also look at ways to create more jobs, boost trade, especially for Nigeria’s large youth population, and improve digital infrastructure like internet access and renewable energy projects.

Food security is another key issue, with Nigeria working with other nations to fight hunger and support sustainable farming, especially in Plateau State.

Overall, Governor Mutfwang’s participation aims to help position Plateau State as a center for investment, innovation, and sustainable growth. The delegation, led by President Tinubu, also includes other governors, showing Nigeria’s commitment to involving its states in global discussions.

This summit is a great opportunity for Nigeria, and Plateau State in particular, to attract new investments and strengthen partnerships that will support long-term development.
