The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the invasion of the party’s National Secretariat that took place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The invasion involved security personnel and armed thugs who attacked party members in an attempt to take over the party’s office.

The BoT criticized the expelled members who mobilized the thugs to block the newly elected members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by the new National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, from gaining access to the secretariat. During the chaos, tear gas was fired at governors and party leaders, and violence was unleashed on the party’s headquarters.

The BoT also expressed dismay that Barr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and also an expelled member, arrived at the scene with heavy security, seemingly supporting the attackers.

Despite the violence, the BoT commended the courage and resilience of the governors, NWC members, party leaders, and supporters who resisted the invaders. The Board reaffirmed its full support for the new NWC and endorsed the outcome of the party’s recent national convention held in Ibadan on November 15-16, 2025. They emphasized that the convention was conducted in strict accordance with the party’s rules, the Electoral Act, and other regulations, representing the collective will of party members nationwide.

The BoT also condemned statements and actions by individuals who were lawfully expelled from the party, calling their attempts to undermine the Ibadan convention mischievous and a threat to internal democracy.

Furthermore, the BoT called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the attack on the party’s secretariat and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. They stressed that democracy can only flourish when institutions remain impartial, professional, and free from partisan interference.

As the conscience of the party, the BoT reaffirmed its commitment to unity and democratic principles within PDP. They urged the new NWC to remain focused on rebuilding and repositioning the party for victory in the 2027 general elections.
