The Department of State Services (DSS) has brought two suspects before a Federal High Court in Abuja to answer serious charges. One suspect faces allegations related to terrorism, while the other is accused of supporting a military coup through social media.

This action comes just days after the DSS sentenced a notorious terrorist, Hussaini Ismaila, to 20 years in prison.

The first suspect, Abdulmalik Abdulazeez Obadaki, is believed to have masterminded a deadly attack in 2012 at a church in Okene, Kogi State. He is charged with six offenses, including being a member of a terrorist group, conspiracy, supporting terrorist activities, hiding information about terrorists, and escaping from lawful custody.

Obadaki admitted to escaping from detention but denied the other charges. The judge, Justice Joyce Obehi Abdulmalik, postponed the case to January 26, 2026, to review his plea and hear arguments on the remaining charges. Until then, he will stay in DSS custody.

The second suspect, Innocent Chukwuemeka, is accused of using his social media account on X (formerly Twitter) to promote a military coup and spread false information that could cause public alarm. He faces six charges related to false publication and cyberstalking.

Chukwuemeka also pleaded not guilty. His trial was adjourned to January 26, 2026, and he remains in DSS custody until the next court date.

The DSS continues to clamp down on activities that threaten national security and public peace, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining safety across Nigeria.
