The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s main body responsible for elections, has issued an important warning to the public. The commission’s headquarters is located at Plot 436, Zambezi Crescent, Maitama District, Abuja. Their official websites are www.inecplc.org and www.inecnews.com.

INEC released a statement about a fake letter that has been circulating on various platforms. The letter, dated November 10, 2025, claims to be about the resolution of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) meeting and the postponement of the Ekiti State Governorship Primary.

The commission explained that this letter was falsely issued and signed by the Secretary to the Commission. INEC confirmed that the real office of the Secretary did not send out this letter or any related communication. Early investigations show that the signature on the fake letter was forged by dishonest elements trying to mislead people.

INEC strongly advises everyone—political parties, the media, and the public—to ignore the fake letter, as it is not genuine. The commission described forging and spreading false documents as a serious crime that can mislead voters and disrupt Nigeria’s electoral process.

The agency has also said it is working with security agencies to find and arrest those responsible, and they will be prosecuted according to the law.

The statement was signed by Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, Director of Voter Education and Publicity, and issued on November 21, 2025.
