The Department of State Services (DSS) has carried out a major security operation in Bojinji Village on the outskirts of Bauchi, arresting a notorious bandit believed to have fled from Zamfara State. The late-night raid led to the recovery of millions of naira in cash and a significant cache of ammunition, marking a major breakthrough in efforts to curb cross-state bandit activities.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed that the suspect had recently relocated from Zamfara, claiming he was “fleeing persecution,” and quietly settled in the Bauchi community with his family. Investigators now believe the move was an attempt to evade security pressure in the Northwest.
The arrest highlights a growing concern among security agencies about bandits dispersing into new communities, posing fresh risks to regions previously considered relatively safe. For residents of Bojinji Village, the operation has brought relief but also renewed questions about how deeply criminal networks may be embedding themselves in unsuspecting neighbourhoods.
As investigations continue, authorities are treating the incident as further evidence of evolving criminal migration patterns — a trend that underscores the urgent need for coordinated intelligence, community vigilance and stronger inter-state security collaboration.
