The Ekiti State Ministry of Information, in partnership with UNICEF, has opened a two-day Social and Behavioural Change (SBC) capacity-building meeting aimed at strengthening child survival and development efforts across the state.
The programme brings together members of the state’s SBC Committee and key stakeholders from various ministries, departments, and agencies to design more effective, community-driven strategies that address the behavioural factors hindering child well-being.
During the ongoing sessions, participants are engaging in practical learning, cross-sectoral discussions, and planning exercises focused on improving communication, community engagement, and coordinated action on issues affecting children.
The initiative reflects a growing recognition that policies alone are not enough—lasting progress in child health and development requires targeted behavioural change approaches that resonate with families and local communities.
With UNICEF’s technical support, Ekiti is working toward solutions that not only address immediate challenges but also strengthen long-term systems that safeguard children’s lives.
