The Lagos State Police Command has announced major breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on criminal syndicates operating across the state, recovering nine high-end vehicles and multiple weapons in a series of coordinated operations over the past weeks.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Command said the renewed offensive is part of a deliberate strategy to dismantle robbery rings, car-snatching syndicates, and armed gangs responsible for recent incidents in parts of the metropolis.
According to police authorities, the recovered vehicles—comprising luxury SUVs and premium sedans—were traced to hideouts in Ajah, Festac, Iba, Lekki, and parts of Lagos Mainland, following intelligence-led raids conducted jointly by tactical units and divisional patrol teams. Several of the vehicles had been reported stolen at gunpoint.
The Command further disclosed that assorted weapons were seized during the operations, including locally fabricated pistols, pump-action rifles, rounds of live ammunition, and knives believed to have been used in violent attacks and robberies. Some suspects were arrested on the spot, while others fled, prompting ongoing manhunts.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, commended the operatives for their “precision, professionalism, and resilience,” stressing that the Command would not relent in neutralizing criminal activities across the state. He assured residents that the clampdown would continue “until every known hideout, hotspot, and criminal corridor is thoroughly combed and secured.”
CP Fayoade urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to aid security efforts, emphasizing that community cooperation remains critical in combating crime.
Security analysts say the latest recoveries highlight both the sophistication of some criminal elements in Lagos and the increased capacity of the police to disrupt their operations through improved intelligence gathering and inter-unit collaboration.
The Lagos State Police Command is expected to parade the recovered vehicles and suspects in the coming days as investigations proceed.
