Followers of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky staged a peaceful procession in Katsina city earlier today to protest the escalating insecurity across northern Nigeria, particularly the recent mass abductions of schoolchildren in Kebbi and Niger states.
The demonstrators, visibly concerned about the worsening situation, marched through major streets calling on the Federal Government to take urgent and decisive action to secure the release of the abducted students and to strengthen security measures for vulnerable communities.
Participants in the march held placards and chanted messages demanding justice, protection, and a more robust security response. Many expressed frustration over the repeated targeting of schools and the trauma families continue to endure with each new attack.
According to those who joined the procession, their demand is not only for the safe return of the kidnapped children but also for long-term solutions to the insecurity that has plagued the region for years. Calls for peace and renewed government accountability echoed throughout the march.
The protest remained peaceful, and organisers reiterated that their intention was to draw attention to the urgent need for coordinated action to protect civilians and prevent further tragedies in northern Nigeria.
