The Nigeria Police Force has successfully repatriated 61-year-old Turkish national, Acar Huseyin, bringing an end to his attempt to evade justice after fleeing his home country. According to officials, the operation was executed through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, following coordinated intelligence sharing between Nigerian and Turkish authorities.
Huseyin, who had an outstanding prison sentence in Turkey related to fraud offences, was traced, arrested, and handed over to Turkish authorities to complete his term. Police sources say the repatriation demonstrates Nigeria’s growing commitment to international law-enforcement cooperation and its readiness to act against fugitives seeking refuge within the country.
Security analysts note that the successful handover strengthens Nigeria’s global policing reputation and sends a clear message that the country will not serve as a safe haven for individuals wanted for criminal convictions abroad.
More updates are expected as Turkish authorities resume custody procedures.
