The Ogun State Government, through its Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, has announced a three-month amnesty for property owners who constructed buildings without obtaining the required planning permits. The initiative provides an opportunity for defaulters to regularise their documentation while benefiting from reduced penal fees.
According to the Ministry, the amnesty is part of the State Government’s broader effort to promote compliance with urban planning regulations, ensure orderly development, and formalize property records across the state. Property owners who take advantage of the amnesty will be able to legalize existing structures, avoid potential sanctions, and contribute to a more organized urban environment.
Officials emphasized that the amnesty is time-limited, urging residents to act promptly to take advantage of the reduced penalties and avoid stricter enforcement measures once the period lapses. The government assured that the process would be streamlined to facilitate easy regularization of documents and compliance with urban development standards.
The program reflects Ogun State’s commitment to balancing regulatory enforcement with support for property owners, fostering a legal and orderly real estate sector in the state.
