Eruku, Kwara State – Weeks after regaining their freedom, 38 abducted members of the CAC Oke Isegun Church in Eruku remain in government custody, sparking concern among families and community members.
The worshippers, who were abducted in recent weeks, were released last Sunday following negotiations. However, the Kwara State Government has yet to return them to their families, citing undisclosed reasons. The freed members are reportedly being held in a hotel whose location has not been made public.
Authorities have ensured that the victims completed medical examinations, which were fully covered by the state government. Despite this, the delay in reunification has left relatives frustrated and questioning the government’s handling of the post-release process.
The situation raises broader questions about the management of abductee reintegration and the protection of victims following ransom or negotiation-led releases in the state. Community leaders are urging the government to expedite the release and ensure that freed citizens are safely reunited with their families.
