The Osun State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the town of Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Area following a violent breakdown of law and order between Sunday night and early Monday morning.

According to intelligence from the office of the Special Adviser on Security, Barr. Samuel Ojo, the unrest erupted in connection with the death of Prince Adegboyega Famodun, a respected figure in the community who passed away after a brief illness. The incident allegedly triggered tensions among natives, leading to disturbances serious enough to force government intervention.

Announcing the curfew in a statement, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, said Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered the immediate lockdown to prevent further escalation and restore peace.

Governor Adeleke condemned the situation, stressing that his administration will not tolerate any form of civil disobedience capable of disrupting the peace enjoyed across the state. He warned both natives and non-natives of Igbajo against actions that could plunge the town into deeper chaos, insisting that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.

As part of the directive, a joint team of security agencies—including the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS and NSCDC—has been deployed to maintain round-the-clock surveillance in the community until normalcy returns.

Adeleke also extended condolences to the family of the late Prince Famodun and the entire Igbajo community, describing the deceased as an illustrious son whose passing has deeply affected the town.

The government says the curfew will remain in force until complete peace and order are restored.
