Zamfara State First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has intensified her advocacy for the protection, health, and dignity of girls in the state through a series of high-impact outreach programmes.

As part of activities marking the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), the First Lady distributed 1,000 hygiene kits to students of Government Girls Day Secondary School, Galadima Ala—an effort aimed at improving menstrual hygiene and reducing health risks among adolescent girls.

She also flagged off a large-scale free medical outreach at the Emir’s Palace, providing residents with consultations, screenings, treatments, and referrals. Hundreds of women, men, and young people benefited from the intervention, which seeks to expand healthcare access in underserved communities.

During the campaign, Mrs. Lawal urged young girls to stay safe online, remain vigilant, and speak up against any form of abuse. She emphasized that survivors of violence have access to free support services at the Huriyya Dauda Lawal Sexual Assault Referral Centre, reinforcing the state’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups.

The initiative reflects a broader push by the First Lady’s office to advance education, health equity, and comprehensive protection for girls—at a time when issues of GBV and unsafe environments continue to threaten young lives across the region.

Her outreach is now being seen as one of the most deliberate and coordinated efforts to safeguard girls’ rights and well-being in Zamfara.
