Security operatives in Benue State have apprehended seven Cameroonian nationals suspected of involvement in banditry activities near the Nigeria–Cameroon border. The suspects were detained in Imande-Agbatse, a remote border community, after being intercepted by vigilant local youths in the early hours of Monday. The residents, acting on intelligence and heightened suspicion over recent criminal operations in the area, detained the men and handed them over to security forces.

The arrested individuals were identified as Titakung Cyril Gadinga, Nuvi Clifford Babila, Foyabo Godwin Nuvi T, Doh Collins Dobgima, Basil Smith, Dama Kenneth Babila, and Dingana Emmanuel. Community sources allege that the men have been helping bandit networks by providing local information, logistical support, and safe movement routes along the border. One resident, speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the suspects “have been terrorizing residents and using the border as a safe passage.”

The State Police Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has since taken custody of the men, confirming that profiling and interrogation are underway to determine their level of involvement in regional criminal activities. Security sources, however, note that the situation in Benue remains calm, despite rising concerns over the growing link between local bandits and foreign collaborators operating across the porous border territory.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies, stressing that community-based intelligence remains a decisive factor in combating emerging threats. Further official updates are expected as investigations progress.
