Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has criticized some Southeast politicians for what he described as hypocrisy following the life imprisonment sentencing of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking to newsmen after a court session in Abuja, Sowore noted that politicians who ignored his earlier calls to join protests against Kanu’s detention are now visiting him in Sokoto Prison. He described the move as opportunistic and contrary to their previous inaction.
Sowore further stated that if he were allowed to oversee visitor screening and permission for those wishing to see Nnamdi Kanu, he would prevent many of these politicians from accessing the incarcerated leader, highlighting their inconsistency and lack of genuine support.
The activist’s comments underscore ongoing tensions and differing approaches among Southeast political figures in response to Nnamdi Kanu’s sentencing, raising questions about commitment and solidarity within the region.
