A major crackdown on criminal hideouts and black spots in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, has resulted in the arrest of 29 suspects and the recovery of illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to the state police command. The operation, which targeted identified criminal hideouts in Yola, Jimeta, and adjoining areas, was conducted by operatives of the Yola Area Police Command led by the Area Commander, ACP Grace Sanda. The raid followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, who had ordered Divisional Police Officers across the state to intensify raids on criminal hideouts and dismantle locations being used for criminal activities.

According to a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the raids led to the recovery of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, tramadol capsules, and wraps of suspected illicit substances. Other items recovered included pipes, lighters, bottles, and other materials believed to be used for the consumption and distribution of illicit drugs. The 29 suspects are currently in police custody as investigators work to establish their individual roles and identify other persons allegedly connected to the activities uncovered during the raids.

The Commissioner of Police commended the Area Commander, DPOs, and other operatives involved in the operation for their commitment and professionalism. He directed the officers to sustain intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts across the state as part of efforts to prevent criminal activities and enhance public safety. The command also assured residents of its commitment to taking decisive action against criminal elements and activities capable of threatening peace and security in the state.

The Adamawa State Police Command urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in tackling criminal activities. The operation is part of broader efforts by the Adamawa State Police Command to curb crime and drug-related offences in the state capital and its environs.
