The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reiterated that the suspension of three key national officers — Senator Samuel Anyanwu (National Secretary), Hon. Umar Bature (National Organising Secretary), and Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN) (National Legal Adviser) — remains valid and in full effect, emphasizing that Abdulrahman Mohammed, the Vice Chairman (North Central), is an impostor and illegitimate claimant to the position of Acting National Chairman.

In a strong statement released from the PDP National Secretariat, the party reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional order, discipline, and unity ahead of its highly anticipated National Elective Convention, tagged #Ibadan2025, scheduled for November 15–16, 2025.

According to the PDP, the suspensions—enforced on November 1, 2025, during an emergency National Working Committee (NWC) meeting—were carried out under the provisions of Sections 57(3), 58(1)(a)(b)(c)(h), and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017). The affected officers were accused of anti-party activities, gross misconduct, and actions detrimental to the unity and progress of the party.

The sanctions, which also extend to Deputy National Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha, will remain effective for one month, pending the outcome of the National Disciplinary Committee’s review. The party has since formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of these developments, and the electoral body has acknowledged receipt, affirming compliance with due process.

“The PDP NWC remains indivisible under Ambassador Damagum’s legitimate leadership, with 14 of its 17 members standing firm against this charade,” the statement read.

The party described Abdulrahman Mohammed’s self-declaration as Acting National Chairman as a desperate and illegal maneuver backed by “personal ambitions and external political interests,” particularly from rival parties attempting to destabilize the PDP ahead of the Ibadan convention.

“Anyanwu, Bature, Ajibade, and their co-conspirators, including the self-proclaimed Acting Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed, are illegitimate actors whose desperate moves will not fracture the PDP’s resolve,” the party warned.

Furthermore, the PDP confirmed that it has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to investigate the “violent invasion” linked to the crisis and to bring all perpetrators to justice.

Party insiders described the move as a critical step toward safeguarding internal democracy and preserving the integrity of the opposition’s structure in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

As preparations for #Ibadan2025 gain momentum, the PDP leadership insists that it remains focused on unity, transparency, and rebuilding the trust of its members nationwide, asserting that “no amount of sabotage will derail the journey toward party renewal and national redemption.”
